i need some help

I found this plant somewhere around campus and thought it looks pretty cool. The problem is, i've never seen it before and don't know what it is. Does anyone know whats its called? I'm putting this photo in a book im creating for my parents.

It resembles a Bottle Brush greet or shrub, common in Mid to Southern CA but I don't think they taper at the end.

Definitely not a bottle brush. When did it bloom in Illinois? How tall is the plant and how wide? You need to open your shutter more and close the lens for a higher f-stop.

it was about 20 inches tall and 12 inches wide, it was like some sort of bush. I have no idea when it bloomed. I was bracketing and that was the middle exposure.

What I meant is when did you take this, was it an outdoor plant or inside plant? If outside, when did you take it? Have you google HDR photography?

        Hoerr Nursery: Hi Greg, nice picture and thank you for your question! That is Celosia - it is an annual that typically does not stick around this late in the year. Because of the late frosts, it still looks pretty good, or it was planted in a slightly protected area. Thanks again! -Dave
