Not sure if you're referring to the riots but no those were not the fans. There were rioters causing trouble so they could start something. Whether we won or not, would not have mattered. There are also the "fanatics" not true fans at all.

LOL, way to listen to the mayor. That's a complete lie. Why would one of the "rioters" have authentic Vancouver hockey jerseys, which costs around $200 or $300? I would call those true fans..

Now in Montreal, those were "rioters". You would look around and see these guys that would just stand out, and they wanted to stand out. They weren't fans and they admitted to it. They wanted to cause trouble. In Montreal, and especially during the the later stages of the playoffs, riots are the norm. Vancouver is a very peaceful city, compared to the likes of New York, Boston, etc. That's why the whole world was set on the news of the near deadly riots. It was something that wasn't expected out of the city, but to be honest, it was prone to happen if Vancouver wasn't going to live up to its hype in the playoffs.

Excuse you, lol. My boyfriend has lived around there all his life, so he would know and YES they were rioters trying to start something.

Oh, so rioters would just appear out of the blue eh? The last time a riot happened due to hockey in Vancouver was in 1994 when they lost to the Rangers. Show me some more evidence that they weren't true fans, other than your boyfriend's word and the mayor's word. All the mayor is doing is trying to cover the city's shame. He doesn't want to admit that it was the fans. The exact same thing happened in 1994. The mayor blamed that "rioters" acted by themselves and they weren't fans. Guess what, a couple days later, they reported that they were fans. You see the videos and almost every single person was wearing a Canucks jersey. Even if they had won that night, there would have been a riot. Not to the same extent, but still there would have been a riot. Why? They would have showed their glory for the cup rather than the hatred that another city won the title when they were destined to win.

Killer, I think you're missing her point. She's not saying they aren't true fans, as in they don't like the Canucks. She's saying they aren't true fans, as in, they don't deserve a hockey team because they don't appreciate it and act like idiots.

At least that's what I'm getting.

I'm confused by why the rioters couldn't be troublemakers, and fans, now bear with me... this is where it gets tricky...

BOTH!

...at the same time!

Sorry if my original reply offended anyone, I was just making a joke about the fans that started the riots, not trying to insinuate that all Vancouver fans are like that.  However, I don't believe for a second that the rioters weren't also fans.  Anyplace in the world, when you mix alcohol and/or drugs, overzealous fans, and important sporting events, they tend to get rowdy.  This was simply an extreme case.
